    Godfrey Okello-Omoding was inducted into Rotary on 25th March 2015, officiated by General Edward Katumba Wamala, the current Minister of Works and Transport, and by then Army Commander.  His journey to Rotary could have started in 2001, when was introduced to Rotary by Rotarian Dr. Kyamwana, District Medical Director, Kibaale District Local Government. However, due to the nature of his work that involved high mobility; coordinating two district development programs (Kibaale and Kumi District) it was not possible. 

    In 2014, by fate of work, he came across to DGE Anne Nkutu, who rekindled the Rotary talk to him and persistently inviting him to Rotary Fellowships. She constantly reminded him, and being gentle and polite, not wanting to let her down he also responded to her call.   Through interactions with the rest of the Club members, they showed warmth to him, though many were ladies, he got comfort to become a Rotarian. What can be called responding to motherly love.   

    Upon induction, Godfrey was given a classification of monitoring and evaluation and later became Service Project Director.  His subsequent service to the Club was in Family Health Days; the treasury of the Club, where fundamental changes were done, and to date, the Director of the Rotary Foundation. 

    Godfrey is a development practitioner, rather more by calling leave alone his training. He has a practical wide experience in development programs.  He has designed, formulated, managed, supervised, monitored and evaluated a number of development programs both nationally and internationally.  These are programs funded by governments, NGOs, regional and international development partners including Irish Aid, World Bank, European Union, African Development Bank, Denmark International Development Agency, Austria Development Programs, JICA, UNDP, IFAD, UNICEF, USAID, NORAD, KFW, GIZ and other international and regional organisations. 

    Currently, Godfrey is very involved in research and consultancy in the following sectors, among others; health, water and sanitation, education, agriculture, roads, livestock, natural resources, infrastructures, environment, rural and urban development, micro-finance, HIV/AIDS, gender, household income generating (livelihood), micro-projects, and governance 

    Godfrey, in his work life, has held the following positions, among others; (i) Senior Economist/Deputy Managing Director, COWI Limited; (ii)Chief Technical Advisor/Program Coordinator Irish Aid- Embassy of Ireland, Uganda; (iii) Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Microfinance Outreach Plan and Rural Finance Service Program, Ministry of Finance and Economic development,  (iv) Senior Economist in Local Government Finance Commission, and (v) Economist in Ministry of Local Government/Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.  He has also been accredited as an Election Observer for Uganda Referendum 2000, Presidential Election 2001, Parliamentary Election 2001, and Local Council Elections 1998 and 2001.

    Godfrey renders voluntary services to his rural Gogonyo Sub-county, Pallisa District as a Chairman, Board of Governors, Gogonyo Senior Secondary School; Development Advisor to Community Development Organisation- Gogonyo Forum; Sponsorer of Adult Literacy and Church liturgical materials and the choir for Ajepet Church of Uganda, and an Official, Kampala Club.

    Godfrey holds Master of Arts in Economic Policy and Planning, Masters of Business Administration (received Meritorious Award), Post Graduate Diploma in Public-Private Partnership in Local Government Infrastructure Financing and Development, and Bachelor of Science in Economics; and others tailored courses in development, planning and budgeting, management for impact, projects, procurement, community mobilization, finance, management, trade policies, microfinance, local governance, and HIV/AIDS and Gender mainstreaming.

    Godfrey is married to Betty and they have three adult children (two daughters and one son) and recently a first-time grandfather with twins.
