Rtn Anne Nkutu Installed Governor of Rotary District 9213

Hundreds of Rotarians gathered on Saturday, April 20th to witness and celebrate the installation of the new Governor of the Rotary District 9213 Rtn Anne Nkutu at a glamorous event held at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Rtn Anne Nkutu, a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Kampala-Naalya received the instruments of power through the Rotary International President Representative and TRF Trustee Brenda Cressey during the Great Gatsby-themed night of the three-day District Conference.  She will officially take over office on July 1, 2024.

Rotarians were welcomed to the evening festivities by Rtn Dr Mitch Egwang from the Rotary Club of Kampala Sesse Islands and entertained by various performers, among them Sheebah and Bebe Cool. It was a night characterised by elegance and glamour as delegates dressed to the nines with a dazzling display of style to match the day's theme.

Dancing to the tunes of Timi Dakolo’s Everything (Amen), members of the Rotary Club of Kampala-Naalya led a red-carpet procession through the isle of the marquee tent erected at the resort accompanying the Incoming Governor to the podium following a special introduction by the outgoing Governor Edward Kakembo Nsubuga.

She reflected on a story shared by Akin Alabi in his bestselling book, Small Business Big Money of a wealthy King who subjected men to a swimming test to win his only beautiful daughter’s hand in marriage. The story tells how the eventual winner of the contest was someone who was just pushed into the pool by others who had spotted crocodiles in the water.

Equally, Governor Anne commended all those who pushed her through her career path and Rotary journey, mentioning among others former District Governors Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, Stephen Mwanje, Shamilla Bhat, John Magezi Ndamira and Mike Sebalu, among others. She also commended her friends Justice Patricia Basaza and Shem Nagenda for not giving up on their pursuit to help her join Rotary.

DG Anne shared that she is committed to supporting each club and club president to help achieve their goals by consolidating their projects from previous years but most importantly through strengthening governance structures.

The cache will also be through an innovation dubbed plant your balance. Through this, Governor Anne is asking Clubs to subtract their age from 100 and multiply the resultant number by 100 to get the number of trees they are expected to plant at the end of the Rotary Year.
