Our visit to the Missionaries of the Poor Bethlehem Children's Home

On December 16, members of the Rotary Club of Kampala-Naalya spent the day at Bethelem Children Home in Busega as a way of giving hope to children housed by the Missionaries of the Poor.

The Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) is a home that takes care of the poor, needy, homeless, depressed and disabled children who have been abandoned by society and need a loving home, food and care. Some of the children in the home are mentally and physically incapacitated and depend entirely on the generous support of the community.

At the moment, the home is taking care of 106 children some of whom have been abandoned and rejected by both their families and the communities.

The Club has over the years provided support to the home through the supply of food items, cleaning and sanitary supplies, medical and dental camps, and supply of scholastic materials for the children who can go to school.

The head of the Home Brother Zoachim told club members that the home needs as much support to feed the hungry, treat the sick, clothe the children and take care of all categories of people under the Missionaries of the Poor.

He referred to the scripture in Mathew 25:35-37 "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

Brother Zoachim added "I do not know their language but there is only one language that I understand; "To love them.
